Truth in an AI World...

...Or Why I Got Pissed Off Today

Substack

So I signed up to Substack and have been reading some really well written articles in the last few weeks. Some really insightful and interesting views about life, love, and hobbies.

Today’s article

The article this morning which piqued my interest revolved around an interview between Keanu Reeves and Elon Musk. I love Keanu Reeves, and have some fairly negative opinions of Elon “it wasn’t a Nazi salute” Musk. I figured this would be an interesting read, and it was, until it wasn’t.

The story revolved around a live stream of Keanu and Elon discussing the role of AI in Hollywood, and in the live stream Keanu garnered enourmous support from the audience for his views on what it is to be human, whilst Elon received boo’s and jeer’s from the audience for suggesting that AI could replace humans in all aspects of film-making.

The Problem

At the foot of the article, and I mean right at the very end, there was a disclaimer stating that this was an AI generated story. What the actual fudge!? I spent 15-20 minutes reading this article and it wasn’t real! It didn’t happen. Sure enough, some searching across other platforms, and searching for the video on YouTube revealed that not only did this not occur, but that many YouTube videos and articles have been written based on the fact that the encounter actually DID happen.

I Quit

I’m starting to feel that there are few news sources with any realy credibility left, certainly not outside of mainstream news outlets, and even those are questionable at best with their politically motivated, and billionaire-backed biases. I’ve closed my Substack account as the level of noise and the uncertainty around the sources make me really question what I can trust. Please let me know if there is anywhere on the internet now where I can get honest, human generated news.
